My best friend of 18 years wants to get friendship tattoos. She wants to do the Chinese symbol for friendship but I think it is so normal and there are a couple different ways that I have seen. Everyone does Chinese symbols. I also don’t want the Irish symbol. I want something different but symbol. Help me please!
What has meaning for you both. A girlfriend of mine and I had matching tattoos done years ago…they are of a seagull in flight which represents freedom, the beach (we lived in Florida), and it was the emblem on the album cover of a band we both adored and whose music we listened to ad nauseum.
Two girlfriends and I, years later, got matching tattoos that we designed. We incorporated the elements of our sun signs (one of us was fire, another water) and the female symbol ♀ in chrome (to represent the friend who brought the other 2 of us together, and in chrome because she loved to ride motorcycles). The symbol is surrounded on one side by fire, the other by water. It’s very kewl.
I’ve also got an OM symbol which is special to another friend of mine, who also has that tattoo…and a dragon tattoo as another friend, to commemorate our trip to Wales this past Fall.
The options for you two are endless. The symbol or sign doesn’t have to say ‘friendship’ in any language, to represent the friendship you share.

do something that resembles the years you have been friends. Think back through all the years think of your best moments and what they revolve around go with something like that

Love, unity, team, one, twin, together, forever
Any of the symbols for any of those words would work

thats so cute! i would love to do that with my best friend. you’re right, those are common. you should do an inside joke but make it serious/fun. like, if u loved M&M’s, get that with your initials in the circles.
