My brother and I want to get a tattoo. We would like the quote "It is never too late to be what you could have been" translated into Scottish Gaelic.

We are 75% Scottish and want to represent our Scottish heritage.

Thank you.

idk, but how about ‘strive to be more’ instead.

I produced this video using my Hi8 camera after gaining permission from Alan Smith , Marketing Manager for the Edin Tattoo. It was a great opportunity for me which I will never forget listening to the sound of bands up close and from above. I recently re edited this video, shortening it down from an hour which included a behind the scenes look at the show which I’ve taken out as the footage slowed down the pace of the video. If you liked my video, feel free to comment and check out my other videos and parts of this one.

I remember the fire of the canons at the beginning and the hairs which still today stand on the back of my neck. Personal highlights over the years include the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Steel Orchestra, HM Kings Guard of Norway and the glorious sounds of the Massed Bands of the Royal Marines not to mention the Singapore Police Pipes and Drums which visited Edinburgh in 2008.

I’m getting a tattoo of the Scottish proverb, "fear is worse than fighting," but I want to make sure I get the correct translation. Can anyone help?

Why do you need a translation? Surely you speak Gaelic if you are going to get this tattoo.

I want to get a tattoo that show my "blood". im scottish and english and i want to get a tattoo that shows them together.
anyone have ideas or pictures?

How about the Union Jack with the red lines replaced by red plaid lines. I think that would be pretty cool.

Programme of the 2006 British military tattoo edinburgh event, the Royal Edinburgh Tattoo:

For the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo of 2006, I went along with one of my friends which was before I even started a TV course as it shows. I shot this footage using my Cybershot P73 stills camera. The British used the practise where it became a signal, played by the regiment’s corps of drums and pipes and drums where the tattoo military soldiers would retreat to their barracks at the end of a day. The first Edinburgh Military Tattoos were called something about a Soldier which took place at the Ross Bandstand at Princes Street Gardens in 1949. The first official Edinburgh Military Tatoo began in 1950 with just eight items in the programme. There were 6000 spectators seated in beanch scaffold structures around the Edinburgh Castle esplanade. In 1952, the capacity was increased to hold a nightly audience of 7700 allowing 160,000 to watch the live performances every year.

I will be in your debt if anyone can help. My grandfather was from Scotland and this was some thing he always said to me. I would love to get this tattooed with his portrait, and I would like it to be in traditional Scottish Gaelic and grammatically correct. Again I will be in your eternal debt.

My Gaelic is extremely poor, but I asked a couple of friends. Unfortunately, I got more than one answer:

"Only God will judge me"
— Ní féidir ach le Dia breithiúnas a dhéanamh orm
(this one seemed a little more Irish… but what do I know)

"God only will give judgment on me."
— Bheir Dia a-mhàin breith orm.

Hope it helps.

It’s for a tattoo.

If you like the Gaelic language so much that you would consider going to the trouble of getting Gaelic words tattooed on your skin, maybe you should learn some of the language!!
