I’m looking to get the phrase " If you never try you’ll never know " translated into Gaelic as a tribute to my late grandfather. Thanks.

The Lake George Community Band and Galloway Gaelic Pipes & Drums performance of the theme from Michael Mann’s “Last of the Mohicans” motion picture (1992) and composed by Dougie Maclean, during a July 28,2011 concert at Shepard Park, Lake George, NY. The venue (Shepard Park) is actually within eyesight of the original Fort William Henry, where a battle during the French and Indian War actually took place and was depicted in James Fennimore Cooper’s famous novel, “The Last of the Mohicans”. The two groups performed what is known as a Tattoo (mass band performance) and played Amazing Grace, and Highland Cathedral as well.

Looking to get a Gaelic Tattoo, and need to make sure this is the proper translation. Already looked all over the internet for translations and am having no luck, any help from those who speak Gaelic would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone,
im planning to get a tattoo on my hip with a celtic sign that means family that my sister is planning to get. My tattoo is going to be small because I do not want to make a huge thing that is permanent. I want a Gaelic saying that’s going near the celtic sign but i don’t know what the gaelic phrase should say. I want something that deals with family and that means something. Im not getting the tattoo right away because I want to be a 100% sure about this, but please, if anyone has any good gaelic phrases or meanings, id like to hear them.
thank you ![]()

It’s for a tattoo. I’ve checked numerous Irish Gaelic translation websites, but all of them only let you translate individual words, not whole phrases. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
"Tá na taibhsí in ár measc"- the ghosts are among us
My father has just recently passed away. I am looking to get a tattoo in memory of him. An idea i had was to get the symbol for father,a nd the symbold for son; and somehow link them together. Or if father and son was one symbol just use that. I am not sure if there is a celtic or gaelic symbol for what i want. If anyoen knows please tell me what you no, or if you no who to contact or where i could possibly get the information needed.
While there are no set symbols for father and son in Irish (just as there really are none in English), you could either decoratively write the words
Father – Athair
Son – Mac
with knotwork or the like.
Or you could do would be two lines (or even one long line if you want them connected) of ogham script which is a traditional script of the Gaelic languages. Ogham is the font of Primitive Irish, but works well with modern Gaelic languages as well.
("Athir" is Father in Ogham, "Maqi" is "son of" in Ogham)
Remember that ogham vowels can be represented as dots, which look quite striking.
The main problem with a set ‘symbol’ is the prevalence of the magic number 3 in Celtic mythology which means most symbols are threefold (shamrock, triquetra, triskele, etc.) and lead to the quick switch to Christianity’s 3fold God. So any symbol will have 1 too many meanings for your purposes.
