Inspired by the age-old feminine principle of Yin and the masculine principle of Yang, The TAO of Tattoo Art presents a comical analysis on the contrasts between two distinctly different philosophies on body art by documenting a Christian tattoo shop owner’s dogmatic views on tattoos as the ultimate expression of an individual’s faith, as the owner of another tattoo shop unapologetically offers her own hedonistic views on the body “as a living canvas”. This experimental documentary is also a novel take on an industry whose traditionally bohemian work ethic has only recently been challenged by the growing number of Born Again Christians jumping the “body art bandwagon”. The interesting subjects in this documentary only put a face to the masculine and feminine aspects that drive these two, complimenting forces of nature.

Tatts are forbidden under the mosaic law (the old testament) because they were the practice of polytheists and were normally done to remember the dead , designate a tribal relation or honor a false god.In Christ we are removed from the power of the law to separate us from a relationship with God and so if you have a tat and then become a Christian there is no real reason to feel bad , getting them after salvation shouldn’t be done (my personal opinion) but there is no scripture that i can think of which condemns it and i don’t look down on people who have them .
